Service Court

The area the serve goes into. It is the space between the kitchen line and the baseline, split into left and right by the centerline.

The area between the non-volley zone (kitchen) and the baseline, split into left and right by the centerline. Each side of the court has one on the left and one on the right (3.A.4.f). The baseline, sideline, and centerline around it are also part of the service court (3.A.4.f). The serve goes into the opponent's service court diagonally across (7.E).

The kitchen is not part of the service court (Section 2, Definitions). The non-volley zone line (kitchen line) is part of the kitchen (3.A.4.c). A serve that lands in the kitchen or on the kitchen line is a fault (7.E.2, 8.C, A serve that touches the kitchen line is a fault).
