Scoring

A game is played to 11, win by 2

A normal game goes to 11 points, but play continues until one team leads by 2. Tournaments also have games to 15 or 21.

A normal game is played to 11 points. But you only win with a 2-point lead. So if the score reaches 10-10, play continues until one team is 2 points ahead, such as 12-10 or 13-11 (Section 1, 4.B, 15.C).

12
Winning team
10
Losing team
First to 11. At 10-10, play on until one team leads by 2

Examples

  • 11-9 → a 2-point lead, so the team with 11 wins (Section 1)
  • 11-10 → only a 1-point lead, so play continues (Section 1, 15.C)
  • 12-10 → now there is a 2-point lead, so the game is over (Section 1, 15.C)

Tournament formats

Tournaments use formats like these (15.C.1):

  • Best 2 out of 3 games to 11 (15.C.1.a)
  • Best 3 out of 5 games to 11 (15.C.1.b)
  • One game to 15 or 21 (15.C.1.c)
  • One game to 11 (only for round robins with 6 or more teams) (15.C.1.d)

Every format needs a 2-point lead. However, team events may also use a format where a game can be won by 1 point (15.C).
